Welcome to the Resources section.
This a curated list of my favorite tools and websites I strongly recommend. I have tested every recommendation on this page. Before digging into the awesome resources I know and trust, here is an important disclosure:
Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means that if you choose to make a purchase, I will earn a commission. This commission comes at no additional cost to you. Please understand that I have experience with all of these companies, and I recommend them because they are helpful and useful, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to buy something. Please do not spend any money on these products unless you feel you need them or that they will help you achieve your goals.
I’ve been designing WordPress sites for years and I have become an Elegant Themes fangirl! They have a ton of theme options available (I love their Divi theme). But you should check them out because their support team is TOP NOTCH! While customizing one of my sites, they helped me track down a tiny extra > symbol that was stopping my site from working properly. I’ve had other themes from other companies where the support team didn’t go this far to help! You can’t go wrong with Elegant Themes.
The most important thing when choosing a web host is how awesome their support team is. And A2 Hosting is beyond great. With every question I have ever asked they responded quickly and actually helped me solve my problem no matter what day or time it is. And as if that wasn’t enough they provide one-click WordPress install, super fast site speed and a free SSL certificate is included with your account. I host my site with them and absolutely love it. I recommend them knowing you’ll actually really be taken care of.
If you communicate through writing you NEED this. Grammarly automatically checks your writing for mistakes including spelling, verb tense, grammar, capitalization, spacing, repeated words, the list goes on! All mistakes fixed with a click. As if that wasn’t enough, it also checks for plagiarism, so you never have to worry about whether or not you were inspired too closely by someone else’s writing. I bought this a three years ago on a whim and have renewed every year since. I LOVE Grammarly.
Making your content super sharable is so important for having a successful blog. Social Warfare is my favorite social sharing plugin. I love that the designs of the social media buttons are actually nice. Social warfare lets you decide where to put your buttons, what services to include and how in your face you want your sharing buttons to be. But my favorite feature is how easy it makes adding hidden customized images for Pinterest. I can offer my readers several pinnable options that don’t appear in my posts!
Monster Insights makes Google Analytics easy! With this plug-in, it is super easy to know who visits your site and what content they love. Meaning you can make create more content that resonates with your audience! Super easy to install and understand. Monster Insights gives you real-time stats, e-commerce tracking, popular post tracking, and so much more. If you ever struggled to know what to do with google analytics you should check this out. You can’t go wrong with this analytics plug-in. I love it and use it.
If you are trying to build an email list and don’t know where to start I fully recommend MailChimp. They are super easy to use and free up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month.
I love that this platform is user-friendly for even the most technophobic person out there. And they make it super easy to design pretty emails.
Convertkit is my favorite email service provider bar none! They offer a ton of features and provide excellent training and help any time you need it!
If you are building an email list (and you should be if you are trying to sell online) you will eventually out grow Mailchimp. I have tried several other providers over the years and so many of them make sending emails harder than it needs to be.
StudioPress is the company behind the incredibly popular and super easy to use Genesis framework.
Genesis is a skeleton that designers create different themes for. This is awesome because you get the same functionality, with different styles. Plus the number of designs offered on this site and by independent designers on the web is insane. Studio Press also offers hosting so you get an all in one package.
